The Spoken Word Poetry club is called Verses and Voices, and it is club for creative writing of all kinds, including poetry and prose. This club will allow students to express themselves on a variety of issues, largely student guided, and help them with the construction, and delivery, of various writing pieces. I have attached a link to a short video which is an example of spoken work performed by a 15 year old a few years ago. It deals with identity, what it means to be an American, etc. If this link is helpful for you in class, or just to sell the club, then please feel free to use it. The language is 100% school appropriate.

The video is a little over 3 minutes. I already have members who can perform on par with this, and we have barely started. The more we get to join, the stronger their voice becomes.
Club meetings are on Tuesdays from 2:10 to 3:10 in room 328. We will be meeting today.
