The Discovery High School Vision, Mission, Slogan and Motto were established before the school opened in the Fall of 2015 and focus on student success. At least every 5 years the Discovery High School Vision and Mission statements will be reviewed and revised as necessary. Faculty and staff review and suggested revisions will be solicited through with the assistance of Department Chairpersons, Academy Lead Teachers, and Administrative Team Members. Student review and suggested revisions will be solicited with the assistance of members StuCo and Discovery High School GSLT members. Parent and community review and suggested revisions will be solicited with the assistance of members of the Local School Council, PTSA, and Academy Advisory Councils. Representatives (voluntary and those requested by the principal) of these different school, student, parent and community groups will be convened as the Purpose Committee to consider the suggested revisions and to make any changes deemed appropriate. Once the Purpose Committee drafts a possibly revised Vision and Mission, it will be presented to the faculty, staff, StuCo and GSLT members, parents and the community for any additional feedback. Once this final feedback is received, the Purpose Committee will reconvene to construct a final draft of the school's Vision and Mission.
The Discovery High School Vision, Mission, Slogan and Motto are communicated via the school's website, Student Handbook Supplement, newsletters, and Local School Council and PTSA meetings. Documentation of the review process also will be communicated via the school's website, newsletters, and Local School Council and PTSA meetings.
